Marinaleda has been ruled by CUT-BAI (Collective for the Unity of Workers - Andalucían Left Bloc) since 1979 until 1986 when CUT joined United Left that has since then been the ruling party (whilst most of the composition of IU's Local branch is basically members of CUT-BAI).
